California transplant Valerie Steel came to Everett in the 1990s and with her Realtor’s license began a company called Greening Properties focusing on sustainable green building and restoration of the city’s historic houses. Valerie was active in her neighborhood association and was a community activist. She also served as president of Historic Everett.
